The oPhone – O-(No!) Phone

oPhone DUO

Would you like a cup of virtual coffee?
It is now possible to receive a cup of aromatic coffee via your cell phone. The oPhone was created by a team of highly innovative scientists and artists who love coffee so much, they want to breathe in that smooth sumptuous aroma all the time. The Olfactive Project is not just a crazy experiment, but a virtual reality. The universal scent of coffee is only the beginning. Imagine the possibilities.
“Our motto is ‘aroma tells a thousand pictures'”, says Dr. David Edwards, biomedical engineer at Harvard and founder of Le Laboratoire and co-creator of the oPhone.
ophone pic
The oPhone is actually a sophisticated device invented by Dr. David Edwards and Rachel Field (his former student at Harvard). Through a pair of cylindrical receivers that attach to your phone you can send and receive scented messages, tantalizing your nasal passages with delicious aromas. A menu of scents created by Dr. Edwards along with Paris perfumers Givaudan and baristas CafĂ© Coutume, are contained in ‘Ochips’ and released when heated.  All you have to do is push a button.
The sense of smell is a mostly untapped resource with a potential that technology is just beginning to discover. Advertising has been able to use our visual, auditory and emotional senses to brainwash us into buying their products and eating their food. Think how much more effective their brainwashing will be when they are able to add the olfactory sense to this controlling mix. Will we be more likely to order that mouthwatering pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese when we not only see an attractive actor scarfing it down with abandon, but also can breathe in the delicious aroma of a Chicago pizzeria?

According to Sarah Dowdy the sense of smell is used in scent marketing anywhere and everywhere. Have you ever noticed the subtle scents infused into the air at department stores? You barely notice the fragrance, but your subconscious mind picks up on it right away.  These scents are chosen specifically to make you more receptive to buying their merchandise. Odorants can stimulate the memory center of your brain. These powerful memories influence your mood, causing you to feel good. Your subconscious mind connects this good feeling with whatever you are looking at. The desired affect is achieved and the product is sold.
The future holds endless possibilities for the use of scent marketing in television and movies. Once this product is perfected to be used this way, we are in for the sensatory ride of our lives.  Next it will be smell-o-vision and smell-o-auditory (radios and music). We won’t have enough money to spend on all of the products we will “want” to buy.

…….And the brainwashing continues!

Brainwashing 101Brainwashing - Hypnosis - NLP

In today’s society, we have to ask ourselves……”Are my thoughts my own?”Do we REALLY think for ourselves or make our own decisions?

Even things as simple as what toothpaste to use, what to have for lunch or what to wear might be decided for you. If you watch TV (yes, even if the sound is muted) you are being hypnotized and influenced without even knowing it. When you watch movies, talk shows, the news, commercials, listen to music, or read ANYTHING you are being hypnotized, influenced……and YES…..mind-controlled.

How do I know about mind-control? I am an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Master Practitioner and a Master Hypnotist. In other words, I have been highly trained in mind-control by none-other than Richard Bandler, the genius co-creator of NLP. He could make you do or say anything. He is that good. He also said: “You can use NLP to do really good things, or you can be an A…..hole.” My choice was always to do good things with my skills, but unfortunately many highly trained NLP specialists use their skills for what I consider to be unethical, inexcusable, and unadulterated EVIL.

Mind –control is all about bypassing the critical thinking part of your brain with distraction, or hypnosis. Once this is accomplished, your subconscious mind is wide open to accept whatever outlandish suggestion they want to put in there. Your brain is wired to accept these things, no questions asked. This is especially true with children. Young children are ALWAYS in a state of hypnosis, so pay attention to what they are watching, reading and to who might be influencing them.

NLP IN ADVERTISING

Every single commercial is specially designed by a horde of brain-washing specialists whose only concern is to convince you to buy their product, and they will use any means possible to do this. If they need to sell pharmaceuticals that will kill you (which would be just about ANY OF THEM), they will do so without a fleck of conscience whatsoever. They only care about two things: Selling their product and getting money from you. The music and lyrics used in commercials are chosen to influence the right demographics. Sixties music is played to influence baby-boomers, while current music is played to control the younger population. Everything is controlled from tempo, beat and lyrics. The pictures and videos flash on the screen at just the right rate to put you into an automatic state of hypnosis. The more distracted you are, the better it works. Suggestions are thrown into your subconscious mind so fast you don’t even have a clue it’s happening. Even if you are watching a movie or television show on which the TV is playing quietly in the background, you can be influenced by whatever they are saying.

Subliminal advertising (flashing words and statements on the screen so briefly they aren’t detected by the conscious mind) is illegal in other countries, such as Australia and England, but in the United States there is no law on the books against it. It is however controlled by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). They will revoke a company’s broadcast license if it can be proven, but by its very nature, it can often be difficult to detect and prove. I have found subliminal advertisements myself while rewinding television shows on my DVR player. They are still there, they will try to influence you, and you won’t even know it.

“Subliminal programming is designed to be perceived on a subconscious level only. Regardless of whether it is effective, the use of subliminal perception is inconsistent with a station's obligation to serve the public interest because the broadcast is intended to be deceptive. (Federal Communications Commission Record, 2001)” –From FCC Manual for Broadcasters

TELEVISION SHOWS, CARTOONS AND MOVIES

Everything I have said about advertising also applies to television shows, cartoons and movies. Do we care if our children are being influenced daily by subliminal messages in cartoons and the children's programs they are watching? I’m sure your answer to this question is a resounding “YES!”  Perhaps the only way we can protect our children is to pass a law against subliminal programming.

Even if there is no subliminal message in a show or movie, there are still plenty of other techniques used to sway you to their viewpoint. The hypnosis we are under when watching these things makes us susceptible to their suggestions.

Family films are notorious for brainwashing when you least expect it. Take for instance the movie WALL-E.

According to Christopher Tucker “Wall-E fools you into thinking that robots are cute and lovable. We should trust them. We should listen to show tunes with them. That way, our defenses are nice and lowered, which will enable Skynet to commence Judgment Day. If you haven’t already, please don’t let your children watch Wall-E. The resistance is going to need all the hardcore robot hating soldiers it can get. Please, consider the future of our planet.”

So, do you think you might be safe letting your kids watch a Disney movie? Think again. According to The Minority Report Forum Walt Disney worked with the FBI from 1936 until his death in 1966 to provide “cartoons and other images” as propaganda for the U. S. government. Disney continues to use manipulation and mind-control programming in their movies and cartoons to this day.

NEWS PROGRAMS

News channels  and political parties often repeat a consistent message when they want to get their point across. Short snippets of information is also a common tactic on news networks.

One very effective method of brainwashing is to repeat the same information over and over again until it starts to penetrate your subconscious mind, convincing you that it must be the truth. Another way to bypass the conscious mind is to flash headlines at you. Most people only read the headlines when they are scanning the newspaper and these quick flashes of information tend to stick better than an entire article on the subject. This is also true with news programming. The less attention you pay the more you are brainwashed. It seems that the only thing you can do to avoid being brainwashed by the news would be to stop watching it.

It isn’t practical to stop watching or reading everything. So what do we do? PAY ATTENTION to what you read and watch. Be aware of the techniques being used on you, and most importantly question your own thoughts. Take nothing for granted and stop assuming that you are being told the truth or that “they” have your best interests at heart. In most cases they do not. Also, be aware of what your children are watching and reading. Because they are being affected much more than you ever thought possible.

Individual Rainbows - The Colors of Life.

"Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now, you are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to someplace else."
-- Wayne Dyer

One of the most difficult concepts to grasp and to embrace is the realization that you are a complete person just as you are.  A continual quest to be different or to change the inner core of your true self can be counter productive. You are a beautiful and gloriously perfect creation.

You can recognize this idea and continue to grow and evolve. The individual you are within will influence how you live your life, what you do for a living, as well as your choice in hobbies, interests and friends. Go with the flow of the inspiration that comes from within, as well as external influences. This perspective will produce a sense of balance, harmony and peaceful contentment.

Achievement, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Every individual views success with different eyes and sees a rainbow of colors in each diverse prism of light. Although blue may be your favorite color, yellow has its place in your life, and Christmas would not be the same without red and green

Accomplishments are like colors. Even if you see blue as a triumph, someone else might see red as a success and blue as a failure. Create your own picturesque life painting by blending your desired colors into a swirl of magnificence or an enchanting landscape. You are free to create your own vision of a successful and fulfilling life.

You are unique and perfect in your own individual way.  Appreciate and love the person that you were created to be. Expand your strengths and minimize your less desirable traits, but always hold on to that unique individual awesome part of you!

Say It With FEELING!

Watching television tonight, I became aware of something profound. At least, I think it’s profound. It’s all about advertising. The fact is that NLP is used in advertising to the extreme these days. I mean that they absolutely BOMBARD you with visual stimulus until your head spins (Imagine Linda Blair on The Exorcist). They think they can bypass THE MUTE BUTTON! That’s right. They know that if you mute a commercial, you totally have to keep your eyes on the screen in order to know exactly when the show comes back on. In fact, you are better off if you leave the sound on. They are using less auditory hypnotic suggestions because they know about THE MUTE BUTTON.

Okay, I am completely aware that the auditory suggestions are still there. Mostly, they are using song sound tracks from our past, and they chose the songs that appeal to the age group they are trying to reach. If we hear music we can relate to and enjoy, we are less likely to use that irritating MUTE BUTTON.

Most of us aren’t really thinking about all of the hypnotic suggestions we receive daily, and that’s what makes it work. The less we pay attention to the commercials, the more we are affected by them. Hypnosis works because it bypasses the critical factor (or conscious) mind. The less you are thinking about it, the more the suggestions creep right into your subconscious and influence your choices.

Today’s commercials are boring and unimaginative. They lack something very important that advertising from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s had an abundance of. FUN! Yep, they were FUN. Jingles were written specifically for the product, and I remember most of them TO THIS DAY.

For example:

“I’d love to be an Oscar Meyer Weiner. That is what I’d truly like to be. Cause if I were an Oscar Meyer Weiner…..everyone would be in love with me.” “Well, I’m glad I’m NOT an Oscar Meyer Weiner. That is what I’d never want to be. Cause if I were an Oscar Meyer Weiner, there would sure be nothing left of me!”

OR

 “I’m a pepper, he’s a pepper, she’s a pepper, we’re a pepper….Wouldn’t you like to be a pepper too? Be a pepper,,,,drink Dr. Pepper.”

OR

“Hold the pickles; hold the lettuce. Special orders won’t upset us. All we ask is that you let us serve it your way.” (Burger King)

OR

“McDonalds is our kind of place. It’s such a happy place. A clean and snappy place. Hap-hap-hap-happy place. McDonalds is our kind of place – YOUR kind of place!”

I could go on and on, but if you were lucky enough to have grown up when I did, I hope you enjoyed it, because the times, they are a changin’.

In NLP we were taught to appeal to ALL of the senses, not just a select few. Where is the KINESTHETIC? I know GUSTATORY is out, until we create smell-a-vision, but how about a little FEELING? When a commercial makes us happy, we are sold. When we walk through the grocery store singing the cute song we heard on television, we are going to buy that product! If we smile when we think about the product, it goes straight into our shopping carts, no questions asked.

Listen up advertisers! If you really want us to buy your product, start appealing to all of our senses. Connect to our emotions and our feelings. Make us laugh, make us cry and touch our hearts. That’s what will sell us on your product!

Give your Website ZING!

I recently received a request from a fellow member of the WM Freelance Writers Connection on LinkedIn. Michelle gave me permission to share our correspondence with you. This is vitally important information for everybody to know when creating a website or blog. The importance of having an impressive and eye-catching website is immeasurable!

Hi Ellen,
I would be interested to hear your feedback on my website and blog:

http://corporatewritingpro.com/
http://corporatewritingpro.com/blog

Your profile indicates that you’re an NLP Practitioner and both of your websites reflect how much education and competence you’ve attained. If there are any communication issues that you would like to see addressed on my website or blog please do let me know. I am currently in the development phase and would welcome your input and suggestions.
Thank you and I look forward to remaining in touch.

Michelle Baker, PhD
The Corporate Writing Pro
Because communication is key!

Hi Michelle,
I took a look at your website and blog, and there are many aspects that I like about them both. There are also some things that would really brighten them up and bring people in. I know that many professionals think their websites should look "professional" and to them that means a lack of color or personality. As an NLP Practitioner I believe this to be a mistake.

Add some color and zing to your sites! Personalize them with pictures and large colorful writing. Make your posts on your blog short and fun. Blogs are supposed to be fun, and a place where you can express yourself casually. Your website should be more sedate than your blog, but it should still be colorful.

It's always good to change things up and keep people guessing what they will see on there next. My websites and blogs all change templates on a regular basis, along with pictures and personalized posts. Remaining static can stunt your website. Here's a list of some of my blogs. Let me know what you think.

One thing to keep in mind is to speak (and write) with a positive attitude as much as possible. Wine and roses are wonderful, but beer and daisies can be just as good.
NLPLady

Does your website have any zing? People are attracted to colorful backgrounds, pictures that pop out at you and attention-grabbing headlines. A dull sterile background with small black print that never varies will be quickly passed by and unnoticed. Grab their attention with eye-catching and tastefully creative websites and blogs. You have something important to say so shout it out to the world. Capture your audience at their very first visit to your site and keep them coming back.

Your website makes a personal statement to everybody who visits. Show them who you are and what you have to offer in an imaginative and colorful way. Zap them with zing! You’ll be glad you did.

Improve Self-Image in 4 Easy Steps

Listen to Your Thoughts

When you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, consciously change them to positive ones. Constructive self-talk will have a positive influence on your self-esteem. Pay attention to where the thought originated. If the thought came to mind because of a past situation that wasn’t resolved, work on resolving the issue. If the thought is a reaction to something that’s happening at the moment, ask yourself if you are seeing the situation accurately or if you are being influenced by emotions.

Treat Yourself with Respect and Kindness

Forgive yourself when you make a mistake. Everybody slips up on occasion. Allow for imperfections without considering them to be a reflection on you. Appreciate yourself for the good things you do and the accomplishments you have made. Accept that you are a worthwhile and valuable person.

Identify 5 things that you like about yourself

Jot down 5 things you like about yourself in a daily journal. You have a lot of great qualities, and it helps to see them written down on paper. Whenever you are feeling down, get out your journal and read your list of good qualities out loud. This will cheer you up.

Laugh and Smile

Laughter is the best medicine. A good laugh relieves stress, lowers your blood pressure and makes you stronger.  A laugh releases feel good endorphins into your system, and it’s catching. When somebody sees you smile, they get those healing endorphins flowing through their bodies too.

Computers- R- Us

NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) is all about speaking to the unconscious mind in a language it can easily understand.

Believe it or not, the unconscious mind understands things differently than the conscious mind does. The unconscious mind is a great deal more complex. And guess what . . . We all have one! So we probably should learn to communicate with it.

The first thing that we learn in NLP is that the unconscious understands only positive statements. So if I were to say to you "I do not want you to do that." what your unconscious mind really hears is "I do want you to do that." Only the positives are heard. That is why we have so many problems getting our children to listen and obey. They are hearing something totally different than what we think we are saying. So next time, say it this way: "I want you to do this." Be specific and be clear.

Our beliefs affect our lives in many ways, some positive and some negative. Look at it this way. You could compare a newborn baby to a computer just out of the box. She has only been programmed for the very basic stuff (breathing, bodily functions, etc.) The first thing the baby learns to do is to cry. She cries a certain way to let her mother know she needs to be fed or changed. (Mom is also being programmed). As time goes by she will learn to smile, roll over, crawl and eventually walk. Everything this baby learns is a program. There will be times when she will learn things that are unproductive. Maybe she will learn that if she throws a tantrum she gets what she wants. When she is 30 years old she might still think that throwing a tantrum is the thing to do and this will be a problem for her.

Neuro-linguistic programming helps to delete these unproductive programs. NLP uses simple processes that work with the unconscious mind to get rid of old programs and create new ones. Hypnosis is an effective method, but not the only one. A time-line will take you back to the creation of a program, where it can easily be deleted or changed. These are only a few of the methods Neuro-linguistic programming uses to create change. Give it a try! You will be amazed at the difference NLP will make in your life!

The Extensive Use of NLP

Neuro-Linguistic  Programming (NLP)  is used extensively throughout almost every industry with arms that are far reaching, delving into area’s that are varied and at times surprising. The power’s that be have discovered the efficiency of NLP, and are using this valuable tool to full advantage. Even if you are not a professional of any kind, you should at least be aware of the powerful work that can be accomplished with the use of Neuro-linguistic Programming.

 Sales

There are NLP courses specially designed for professionals in the area of sales and marketing. People who rely on the ability to sell themselves in order to market a product or idea are specifically trained in the field of NLP. The training itself stresses the use of language, body language, modeling and other useful techniques to create rapport with the customer and encourage them to desire the product. The object is to convince the customer to purchase the product or commodity, and it works successfully. If you are interested in this kind of training, I recommend Persuasion Engineering. This course is taught by John LaValle and Richard Bandler. I attended the course in Orlando, Florida with my son. The object was to introduce my son to NLP, but I found it to be very helpful and effectual for me in my field of therapeutic NLP.

Marketing
Every time I turn on the television I am reminded of the strong use of NLP in marketing. It is even used more extensively with the invention of the mute button. The challenge for the advertiser is to get into your subconscious mind with fast paced flashing pictures, bright colors, and words written in bold letters across the screen that appeal to a particular targeted audience. They use convincing language for the few people that have forgotten to mute, and music that elicits a desired response from the potential customer. Marketing professionals are highly trained in NLP to use compelling, influential techniques to achieve their goal.

“One of the most consistently lucrative form of writing is that of writing advertising copy. This can encompass a wide range of media…from newspaper and magazine advertising to commercials written for radio, where the spoken word must carry the message…to television where images are used to enhance the written message…almost entirely replacing words with sound and visual stimuli."

http://nlpwriting.com/2010/09/26/advertising-writing/

Teaching
All teaching professionals should be trained in NLP, and many are. The mind of a young child is open and susceptible to influence whether productive or unproductive. It’s important for the teacher to understand that everything they do and say can have a strong influence in a child’s life. Neuro-linguistic Programming can help to train a child in learning techniques and give them the desire and self esteem to succeed in whatever they choose to do in life.

http://teaching-resourcefully.blogspot.com/

Sports
Successful sports professionals know the secret of using NLP to improve their game, expand on their desire to win, and to work out any issues that might be holding them back from achieving the desired results. Both NLP and hypnosis have been used over the years to improve the performance of many award-winning athletes.

"The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.”
Muhammad Ali

Acting
Neuro-linguistic Programming is an extremely important and frequently used skill by many in the acting profession. Although there are many of the NLP techniques they utilize, modeling is used by all of them. The ability to step into the shoes of the person they’re portraying is essential for them. They can become so into character that it becomes difficult to step out of character once filming has been completed. In order for an actor to play a part with convincing passion, they need to temporarily become that character in body movements, accent, emotions and beliefs. I admire the skills of a good actor. I’m reminded of Sally Field in Norma Rae and Sissy Spacek in Coal Miners Daughter., some examples of modeling a character in an inspired way.

“Actors with performance anxiety-Tip #3 is use Hypnosis, NLP, and Time line Therapy.”
- Angela Bailey, hypnotist

http://www.angelabaileyhypnosis.com/actors-with-performance-anxiety.html

Comedy
Comedians are experts in the use of NLP. In fact, when I went to school to become a Master Practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming, one of our assignments was to watch recordings of comedians such as George Carlin. Laughter and comedy can be very convincing, and they use NLP techniques in many cases without even being aware of it. They use nested loops, distraction, and appeal to all of the senses in ways that most people have never considered. Richard Bandler himself used George Carlin as a model at one time, to develop his art. Check out this video of a comedian, Richard Stockton who uses NLP to make people laugh.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC6JG76ZZe4

Neuro-linguistic Programming is more prevalent in today's society than you might think. NLP's use takes on many forms and is used in many different venues. NLP is a skill that everyone should acquire.
